James Hunter Townsley 1850


James Hunter Townsley (GG Uncle), born in 1850, James Hunter died on 23 January 23, 1937, he was 87. He resided in West Caln Township, Chester County, Pa. in 1935. Occupation: Partner with his brothers in a Traction Thrashing business and then in a business providing wood to Lukens Steel. Cause of death: Pneumonia.

I, James Townsley of Westcaln (sic) Township in the County of Chester and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.
And first, I direct that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate and situation in life and that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.
And to such estate as it hath pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows, viz:
I give and devise to my brother William E. Townsley his heirs and assigns my my (sic) real estate situated in West Caln Township Chester County Penna. the (sic) same property that of a farm with a set of farm buildings thereon which was willed to me by my mother and duly recorded in the Recorders Office at Westchester (sic) Pa. record in Deed Book 38 vol 197 page 148.
And I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint William E. Townsley Executor of this my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I, James Townsley the Testator have to this my will, written on one sheet of paper, set my hand and seal, this fourteenth day of October A.D. One thousand nine hundred and thirty five

James had been left his farm by his mother and this was recorded in the Recorder's Office at West Chester, Pa., deed book 38, volume 197, page 148.

James Hunter married Mary E.

They had the following children:
James N. (1C2R) was born in 1884 and died in 1969, he was 85. He is buried in Upper Octorara Cemetery, Pa. (Not certain this is James Hunter's son, but based it on name similarities and dates.--LEM)

James Ivan (1C2R) was born in 1897. James Ivan died in 1933, he was 36. He was buried in East Brandywine Baptist Cemetery, East Brandywine Township, Chester Co., Pa.
