Richard Templin Meredith 1839 to William Few Meredith 1846

Richard Templin MEREDITH (2C4R) was born on October 21, 1839 in West Whiteland Township, Pa. Richard Templin died in 1922, he was 82, and was buried in Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Grove, Pa. Occupation: Masonry, which he learned as an apprentice to a Garrett.

Richard Templin Meredith built the current Grove Methodist Church Building.

The current (Grove Methodist) Church was built in 1888-1889 by contractors Morgan Ruth of Malvern and R. T. Meredith of West Whiteland for $7,000.00. Green serpentine stone used in the Gothic-styled edifice was obtained from the Brinton quarries in Westtown and hauled by teams supplied by Shoemaker and Robinson, limeburners at Oakland. A History of West Whiteland by Martha Leigh Wolf and Diane Sekura Snyder, 1982, Page 54.

On January 28, 1875 when Richard Templin was 35, he married Elizabeth A. Loomis, daughter of William Loomis & Elizabeth who was born in 1851. Elizabeth A. died in 1920, she was 69, and buried in Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Grove, Pa.

William Few Meredith (2C4R) was born in 1846 and died in Exton, West Whiteland, Pa. on February 25, 1913, he was 67. He was buried in Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Grove, Pa.14, Cause of death: Broken back and punctured lung due to accident (pinned under telephone pole he was pulling.)

Meredith - In West Whiteland, on Tuesday, February 25, 1913, William F. Meredith, aged 67 years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the late residence on Friday, the 28th Inst. Leave the house at 1:30 o'clock p.m. Services in Grove M. E. Church at 2:30. Interment in adjoining cemetery. Daily Local News. 2/26/1913.

"William F. Meredith, aged 67 years, of Exton, West Whiteland, died at his home last night as the result of injuries received in an accident a week ago. At the time he was injured Meredith who was a prosperous dealer in timber and engaged in cutting off a wood-leave, near his home, was walking beside a heavy telephone pole, being dragged by a pair of horses, when the heavy piece of timber slid over a slight embankment by reason of the slippery mud and snow and pinned him down in the road. He was taken to his home, when it was found his back was broken and one rib had punctured a lung. He also had other internal injuries and these caused his death. Mrs. Meredith died some years ago and there are three children living: Richard Meredith, who conducts the home farm; Miss Emma, a teacher in the Normal School at Camden, N. J., and Mrs. Harvey Moore, of Lionville. The funeral will take place on Friday." Daily Local News. 2/26/1913

William F. Meredith. William F. Meredith, an aged farmer of Exton, after suffering for over a week with a dislocated vertebrae and punctured rib, died in his home Tuesday night. Mr. Meredith was injured on February 17th by falling beneath a telegraph pole he was hauling from his wood lot. He had been engaged for many years in the lumber business in that section of the country, and also was a prosperous farmer. He is survived by three children, Richard Meredith, who farms his place, Emma, a teacher in the New Jersey State Normal School, at Camden, and Mrs. Harvey Moore, of Lionville. The funeral will be held tomorrow. West Chester Star. 2/27/1913.

In December 1873, when William Few was 27, he married Eva Ann March, daughter of Isaiah March. She was born in 1849 and died in Exton, Pa. on October 4, 1894, she was 45.

Mrs W. F. Meredith Mrs. Meredith, wife of Will F. Meredith, a well-known farmer residing near Exton, died yesterday after a long spell of illness with pulmonary troubles. Deceased was a daughter of Isaiah March, of Pikeland, and was a most estimable lady. She was 45 years of age, and leaves three children. Daily Local News. 10/5/1894.
