Joseph Townsley 1845

Joseph Townsley (GG Uncle) was born in 1845 and died in Coatesville, Pa. on May 13, 1921, he was 76. He was buried on May 17, 1921 in Upper Octorara Cemetery, Pa. He resided at 25 West Sixth Avenue, Coatesville, Pa. in 1921.

Last Will and Testament. Be it remembered that I, Joseph Townsley, of the City of Coatesville County of Chester and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding do make, publish and declare this as and for my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making null and void any and all wills and testaments or writings in the nature therof (sic) by me at any time heretofore made.
1. I direct my executor hereinafter named to purchase a lot in the Upper Octorara cemetery, erect a suitable headstone thereon, and carry out the personal instructions I have given my said executor.
2. I give, devise and bequeath all my household goods with the exception of one bed room suit to be retained by my wife, Mary E. Townsley, to my four children, Joseph B. Townsley, Nathan J. Townsley, Cora Jamison and William Townsley, share and share alike.
3. I give, devise and bequeath all the residue of my personal property and all my real estate wheresoever situate, to my wife, Mary E. Townsley and my four children, Joseph B. Townsley, Nathan J. Townsley, Cora Jamison and William Townsley, share and share alike, so that each to receive one-fifth of the same.
4. I nominate and appoint Nathan J. Townsley to be the executor of my last will and testament.
5. and lastly I appoint my friend, Geo. W. Moore, Esq., Attorney in settling my Estate.
In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, to this my last will and testament written on two sheets of paper, this 28th day of September 1920. Joseph Townsley (seal)

On March 6, 1899, when Joseph was 54, he married Mary E. McMichael in the Parsonage of the M. E. Church, 336 West Minor Street, West Chester, Pa. He resided in Chester County, Pa. in 1899. She was bequeathed all Joseph's household goods with the exception of one bed room suit. She shared in one-fifth of all real estate and residue of his personal property with their four children
