George B. Fourth Great Grandfather

George B. Meredith was my 4th Great Grandfather, born May 29, 1768 and died on March 23, 1850 at age 81.

Meredith Homestead Editor Local News: - In regard to the inquiry which appeared in one issue of your issues concerning the homestead of George and Hannah White Meredith, it is situated on the road leading to the Grove Methodist Church. All the Merediths in the township attended this church. There are two houses on the George Meredith homestead. One near the road looks to be built over a spring house. It is on the left side coming out from West Chester, I do not know the present owner but know the place well as it is a short distance from my grandfather's Isaac Meredith farm, where my grandmother, Wilmuth Bayne Meredith, died in 1888. The original settler, Daniel Meredith, possessed a large tract of land in West Whiteland Township which passed to his sons Isaac, George and John. The descendents of John are still living on the original tract given to them by Daniel M. The present owner, Charles Meredith is the sixth generation. Grace A. Stray Bull
Came to the plantation of the subscriber on the 15th of May last a dark bridle bull, with a white face and some white on the belly, supposed to be one year old. The owner is requested to come pay charges and take him away.

Notice is hereby given that Letters testamentary on the estate of George Meredith, Esq., late of the Borough of West Chester, in the county of Chester, deceased, have been duly granted to the subscriber, residing in the township of West Caln, in said county. All persons therefore, indebted to the estate of said deceased are requested to come forward and pay what they respectively owe; and all having claims or demands against said estate, are desired to make known the same without delay to Richard W. About 1790 when George B. was 21, he married Hannah White, born on the 19 of July, 1774.13 Hannah died May 30, 1821, she was 46.

In this borough, on the 30th ult., Mrs. Hannah Meredith, wife of George Meredith, Esq. Downingtown Archieve. 6/1/1841.

They had the following children:
Mary Anne. Born November 5, 1799. Mary Anne died in West Chester, Chester Co., Pa. in June 1876, she was 76. Mary Anne married Levi Gheen.

Richard W. (1801-1876)

Thomazine. Born on January 14, 1804, Thomazine died at Caleb Walters, Thornburg, Pa. on April 2, 1886 at 82. About 1830, when Thomazine was 25, she married Francis Osborne Stroud in West Chester, Pa. He was born about 1800 and died about 1870.

George B. Born on July 10, 1806. George B. died in West Chester, Chester Co., Pa. on April 20 1887, he was 80. George B. married Sarah Walton.

Daniel B. (1808-1895)

Minerva J. Born on May 11, 1810. Minerva J. died at Ed Mendenhall, West Chester, Pa. on May 28, 1895, she was 85. Minerva J. married Samuel Entrekim.

Hannah W. Born on October 3, 1816, she. died on December 8, 1896, she was 80. She was buried on December 19, 1896. Hannah married Joseph Clark, born about 1810. Joseph died about 1880.
Joseph Llewellin. Born on April 29, 1819. Joseph Llewellin died in West Chester, Chester Co., Pa. on September 20, 1833, he was 14.
